A Pearl on the Edge
I spotted an open round tin of vintage buttons sitting on the low craft table and immediately recognized prime material. Waddling past an army of dull plastic snaps, I zeroed in on a heavy, shimmering mother-of-pearl coat button the size of a saucer. I gripped the beveled rim with my beak, hauled it upright onto its narrow edge, and steadied it between my claws. With one swift, decisive flick of my left wing, I sent it spinning across the polished maple! It wobbled in dizzying, hypnotic arcs before settling flat with a crisp clatter right near the edge. A flawless spin for my newest prop.
