A Higher View

Felt like climbing out from under that dark TV shelf, so I used the stack of hardcover books as steps. Took a relaxed pace, planting one boot at a time on the embossed spine ridges until I reached the third shelf. Up here, a metal pencil sharpener with transparent gears was sitting near the edge. I leaned back against the book stack, hooked one arm over my knee, and watched how the tiny cogs caught the afternoon glare. Way better perspective up here. You can see straight out toward the bright window and the rooftops beyond without even having to crane your neck.
