Finding the Rhythm

A round wooden bead was resting near the leg of the coffee table. I approached it at a measured pace, planting my left cleat firmly on the hardwood to gauge the friction. Once my balance locked in, I tapped the bead gently with the inside of my right foot. It rolled smoothly along the narrow lane between two stacked books, clicking softly against the baseboard. The bounce returned right to my stride. I trapped it under my toe, paused, and let the movement settle.
