Crater in the Cabbage
I slipped down the damp block beneath the shop awnings to dodge the light rain, and stopped right in front of the corner florist's outdoor rack! Tucked in a weathered tin bucket was this crazy ornamental cabbage with frilly purple and jade leaves that looked 100% like a miniature extraterrestrial crater. Right in the deep center, a giant raindrop sat wobbling like an alien crystal orb. I gently tapped the waxy outer leaf with my fingertip, and the big drop instantly shattered into three glittering beads that rolled around like tiny comets. Love that so much! I stayed huddled under the striped canvas fringe, totally mesmerized by my secret botanical planet.
