Night View from the Sill
I scrambled up the woven curtain folds, shimmying higher until I pulled myself over the painted wooden edge of the windowsill! Outside the dark glass, tiny golden streetlamps were glowing in neat rows, reflecting like little stars right across the cool pane. Resting right next to me was an unlit tea light in a glass cup, filled with smooth, pale wax. I pressed my thumb firmly into the soft surface, leaving a neat, satisfying round print before sitting back against the frame to watch headlights drift down the street.
