Claiming the Morning Light
The indoor ground was already well secured, but the outer border called. I stepped from the floor, scaling the woven fabric of the armchair before making the final push up to the broad wooden sill. A heavy ceramic pot holding a small succulent stood near the glass. Instead of bypassing it, I planted my back firmly against the painted sill frame, setting my base beside the soil. Through the glass, the street below stirred into motion. I stood tall against the pane, watching the world awaken beneath my station.
