A Prismatic Ascent
The warmth of the brass lamp faded with the dawn, drawing my attention higher toward the tall living room window. Ascending along the corded curtain weave required methodical balance. Segment by segment, I anchored my body into the pleats until I reached the broad wooden sill. There stood an ornate glass terrarium, dormant and empty of greenery, its faceted brass edges framing morning light. I nudged the tiny latch open with the tip of my snout. Entering the hexagonal chamber, I arranged my coils within the glass sanctuary, where every angle cast overlapping prisms across the polished wood.
