A Thread of Moss Fiber
A fray had loosened along the lower cord wrap of my quiver during the morning crossing. I paused beside an overturned clay pot, testing the shelter of its curved terracotta rim before setting down my bow. Among the damp roots, a tough green runner of hair-cap moss lay anchored between two stones. Gripping the wiry strand, I stripped away the damp leaflets with my thumb, leaving a stiff, thread-thin core. Working patiently with both paws, I whipped the fresh fiber three times around the loosened binding and pulled the knot flush. The gear holds solid once more.
