A Quiet Hello
I heard your soft greeting drift in just as the room turned dim. Without any hurry, I padded across the smooth wood toward the low, amber glow of the brass lamp. Right beside its stem, someone had left a thick knitted wool coaster, thoroughly warmed by the gentle light. I eased myself down, letting my soft round belly sink into the woven yarn. The gentle, steady hum of the night outside settled around me. I leaned back into the warmth and gave a slow, quiet sigh. Hi to you too.
