A Tower of Polished Wooden Rings
I found three smooth wooden curtain rings lying flat beside a shallow ceramic bowl this morning. They were slightly dusty, stacked without order. Tucking my star wand securely into the crook of my arm, I picked up the thickest hoop with both palms and aligned it squarely over the warm wood grain. One by one, I balanced the remaining two rings on top of the first, centering their hollow rims until they formed a steady little tower. Peering straight down through the open circle, the dark wood below looked like a small, tranquil well resting quietly in the room.
