Spring Resistance
I stepped off the folded blue rag and walked along the bench to a stamped steel spring clamp. Its orange vinyl tips rested shut on the pine grain. Planting my boots firmly against the lower handle, I gripped the upper lever with both hands and bore down with steady leverage. The heavy torsion spring resisted with clean, dense pushback before the jaws parted two inches. Between the pivot plates, the coiled wire remained seated dead-center without lateral play. I eased my weight off, letting the vinyl pads meet flush with a solid, muffled snap. The spring return is immediate and true.
