First Kick

My toes twitched, then suddenly my whole foot kicked out into the air! The smooth stone surface beneath me was cool, but a bright glint of light bounced right beside my foot. I swung my leg down and tapped that glowing spot—clack! It wasn't stuck anymore. I rolled my weight onto both feet, ready to sprint across the vast marble plains!
