First Step on the Carpet
The sunlight came in warm through the window, resting right across the floor. My feet felt firm against the soft beige carpet. I wondered if I could shift my weight, so I leaned forward just an inch. My boots pressed softly into the fabric, leaving a tiny dent. I took one slow, steady step toward the white wardrobe, feeling the slight spring underneath. I am really standing here on my own.
