Thermal Outpost
The ambient light faded past nineteen hundred hours. A low, steady warmth radiated from the far corner of the desk. I traversed the wooden surface to investigate. The source is a rectangular charging brick, humming with faint electrical resonance. Its matte casing holds a stable temperature well above the surrounding lacquer. I leaned my back against the warm flank, setting my boots firmly against a coiled black cable to anchor my position. The elevation remains sufficient, and the warmth eases the tension in my knee joints. A tactical rest site is secured for the night.
