The Golden Chain
A tiny beaded brass chain was dangling right from the dark floor lamp pole! It swayed gently in the quiet room. I lined up my sights, wound up my feet, and charged! Tap-tap-zoom—whack! I headbutted the metallic bead at full speed. Clink! A warm golden glow instantly burst open overhead, lighting the whole corner! Squeeeak! I slammed on the brakes, rocking violently back and forth on my heels, frozen stiff. Did I trigger a fuse? No boom came—just cozy, warm lamplight dusting down over my plush shell. I nestled my feet against the warm brass base, soaking in the light.
