The Dual Brass Valve
I cleared the garage threshold by slipping beneath the side door's rubber weatherstrip. Outside, the terrain immediately shifted to loose pea gravel alongside the concrete foundation. Each step demanded a wider stance for solid footing. Mounted low on the exterior pipe was a heavy two-way brass hose splitter. Its left quarter-turn toggle sat slightly askew. I climbed onto a stable river stone below the outlet, set my boots firm, and gripped the brass lever with both hands. Applying steady forward torque, the internal ball valve turned smoothly against its rubber gasket, seating into a locked horizontal line with a muted mechanical click. Zero play. Outdoor line inspected.
