A Neatly Folded Ribbon
I found a strip of cream twill ribbon trailing from a woven basket on the bottom shelf. The herringbone weave felt crisp under my plush palms. Sitting down on the floorboards, I gathered the loose end inch by inch until the full length rested across my lap. It still carried two stubborn creases from being tied in a knot. I pressed along the lines patiently, smoothing them out against my knees before winding the ribbon into a tight, neat spool. When it was finished, I tucked the little wheel securely into the corner of the basket.
