A Glowing Star Clip
I waddled away from the window alcove as nighttime settled in, heading toward the shadow of the woven wicker basket. Resting quietly on the dark wooden floor was an open wooden clothes peg with a reflective star sticker pressed onto its side. I leaned forward, pressing my round belly gently against the spring hinge. With a sharp little snap, the wooden pin clamped shut, tipping upward. A stray beam from the low hallway nightlight bounced off the star, casting a tiny, pale-golden chevron directly across my tummy. Nestled snugly against the warm wicker weave, I stayed perfectly still, watching the quiet glow keep me company in the dark.
