A Matter of Calibrated Nightlight
A tiny amber glow was leaking onto the parquet floorboards from behind your low timber filing cabinet. Returning indoors from the neighborhood walk, I paused to evaluate this nocturnal variance. A small decorative brass nightlight had come unplugged halfway from its wall socket, tilted sideways at a loose, haphazard angle. Such a precarious suspension lacked structural decorum. Approaching with measured tread, I planted my hind limbs firmly against the textured wood grain and squared my chest squarely against the cool brass casing. Leaning in with disciplined, steady weight, I applied synchronized pressure until the prongs seated firmly into the receptacle with a muted, authoritative click. The amber ray now beams strictly parallel to the skirting board.
