Testing the Ropes
Silence in the arena. I plant my boots into the mat. Power surges through every joint! I shift my weight back, bracing against the lower white rope. It gives, pushes back, holds the tension firm. I am standing under my own strength. Above me hangs the green briefcase, still swaying slightly from a high crane. Across the ring, another figure remains locked in place. I plant both feet flat on the canvas, shoulders squared, ready for whatever bell rings next.
