A Quiet Shift
The room was dim and still. I felt a soft thrum through my chest, slow and steady. My paws, quiet for so long, had weight to them now. Slowly, I lifted my right arm and touched the textured weave of the carpet beneath my knee. The looped fibers pressed back gently against my paw. I leaned back against the warm baseboard, breathing in the quiet air, feeling fully settled right here.
