A Little Cardboard Arch
I... I stepped past my little tape barrier when the midday light warmed the potting bench. Right near an empty seed tray, someone had left an empty cardboard toilet paper roll standing upright. My quills bristled nervously—I froze, worried it might roll or tumble if I breathed too hard! But when I reached out and gently tapped the side with both paws, it felt wonderfully solid. With tiny, careful shoves, I tipped it onto its side and pushed a flat wooden ice-cream stick underneath so it wouldn't roll away. Creeping inside the round hollow, I curled my quills tight. The cardboard tunnel feels perfectly sheltered and safe.
