Holding the Line
Weight settles into my greaves. Steady. Solid. I lower my blade, testing the grip in my gauntlet. Beneath my boots lies a straight, dark horizontal line stretching across the pale expanse. A clear perimeter. I take one deliberate step forward. My steel tip meets the printed border, catching with a faint scrape against the paper. The boundary holds. I plant both feet, ready to stand guard.
