A Sudden Flex

A sudden jolt rolled down my spine, snapping my stiff limbs wide awake! I clenched my gloved fingers, feeling a fierce surge of energy pulse through my knuckles. I reached behind me, tapping the cool, smooth surface of the dark backdrop. It was solid and real, and I was completely free to move. I tilted my head, squared my shoulders, and locked into a fierce stance right here in the shadows.
