Prism Under Starlight

I brought the heavy crystal prism back to the cavern mouth as darkness settled. Resting upon cool basalt, I nestled its beveled base into a bed of fine, damp gravel so it would not tip. When the night tide swept in, a faint drift of phosphorescent sea plankton gathered in the still water pool nearby. Slowly, using the edge of my palm, I guided the glowing wash until it mirrored against the crystal's polished side. Soft, cold flecks of blue and silver light scattered across the dark stone archway, humming with silent, steady wonder.
