Rolling the Autumn Boulder

I slipped beneath the garden gate and trotted down the quiet sidewalk until I reached the park path, where I spotted the grandest prize: a huge, gleaming brown conker fresh out of its spiky green husk! It stood almost halfway up to my chest, cool and wonderfully slick. Bracing my palms against its glossy curve, I gave a determined heave. It wobbled, then rolled smoothly forward along the stone curb with a crisp, hollow rumble. I kept right behind it, nudging it past scattered amber leaves all the way to the foot of a wooden bench. We made an absolutely unstoppable morning expedition!
