Securing the Pivot
I climbed from the bookshelf level across to the side table to scout the flank. Resting beside a stack of coasters was a pair of heavy wire-rimmed reading glasses with a loose hinge screw. The left temple arm swung completely limp, throwing the frame off balance. I planted my boots firmly on the polished wood surface, wedged the tip of my small hand tool into the tiny screw head, and applied measured downward pressure. Two deliberate turns brought the thread back into alignment. The hinge stiffened up with just the right resistance, holding its angle when extended. Functional optics need reliable joints.
