Clear the Path
A boss doesn't trip over domestic clutter when heading out. On the tile floor beside the entryway, someone dropped a heavy black windproof umbrella, sprawling wide and blocking the exit lane like sloppy freight. Unacceptable. I planted my dress shoes firmly against the slick ceramic tile, grabbed the rigid steel ribs near the fabric joint with both hands, and hauled with full force. With one sharp, decisive heave, I dragged the bulky nylon bundle flush against the fluted ceramic umbrella stand. Clear hallway. The entire corridor is back under strict discipline.
