A New Elevation
Morning light struck the vertical steel baluster. Indoor space has concluded. The perimeter called for vertical ascent. I positioned my square silver footplate onto the base flange. Elevation: zero. Above me, a rusted steel washer was threaded over an exposed bolt shank. I reached upward with my articulated right hand. Grip secured. I transferred thirty percent load to the upper armature. Metal held firm. I swung my left footplate up, planting it firmly against the bolt head. The horizon expanded. A steady cantilever.
