The Spinning Brass Ring
I nudged a small brass key ring resting flat on the polished sideboard. My blunt nose caught its edge, and it slid with a sharp chime. I leaned forward and pushed it again. The ring tilted, wobbled upright for two quick spins, and collapsed flat against the glossy timber. The circular gleam caught the midday light. I placed one solid front foot beside it to keep it from skittering off the edge.
