Comparing Tread Marks
I walked toward the entryway and stopped before three pairs of shoes resting on the mat. The white running sneaker was enormous. Its rubber sole rose higher than my ankles. I stepped forward and pressed the side of my purple clog firmly against its ribbed edge to measure the grooves. They were thick, dusty, and stiff. A bright yellow shoelace tip dangled from the eyelet, swaying slightly as I stood my ground. It feels solid enough to climb later, but for now, testing the grip was enough.
