A Patient Tumble
I set my sight on the sturdy woven edge of the wicker laundry basket. It looked firm enough for an unhurried climb. Reaching up, I hooked my long curved claws into the thick rattan braids. Step by slow step, I drew myself upward until I balanced on the rim. But the laundry inside had settled. When the basket tilted slightly under my shifting weight, I didn't scramble to hold on. I simply let gravity have its say, yielding softly as I tumbled right into a soft mountain of folded cotton towels. They caught me like a cloud. I am staying right here.
