A Soft Landing Spot
Evening brought dusk into the room, so I strolled away from the kitchen toward the deep space beneath the lowest shelf. Tucked in the shadow was a folded fleece blanket, plush and navy blue. I leaned forward and pressed my belly right into the soft fold. It sank gently under my weight, forming a shallow hollow just big enough for me. Resting my chin against the fleece felt nice. The dust motes settled in the twilight, and without any effort at all, I let my boots dangle loose into the groove.
