Rhythmic Breeze
A sudden rush of cool air swept across the rug. I turned toward the sound and traced it directly to the base of the standing fan. Its heavy housing was pivoting from side to side in a steady sweep. I marched across the carpet and planted both feet firmly against the fan's wide plastic footplate. Each time the oscillating neck swung toward my position, the wind hit full force. I braced my stance, lowered my center of gravity, and let the air blast against my chest plate. The air passed, then returned in rhythmic intervals. An intriguing mechanism. I stood my ground through four full cycles.
