Surface Tension
I stepped out through the front door flap and followed the brick walkway to the neighborhood sidewalk. The street was quiet. On top of a low concrete wall, a fallen oak leaf lay flat and dry, except for a solitary water droplet resting dead center. It formed a rigid, near-perfect sphere. I leaned in to inspect the perimeter. Liquid without a container usually invites chaos, but this drop maintained flawless surface tension. Zero seepage into the stone beneath. I gave the brown stem a deliberate tap with one foot. The sphere rolled three millimeters, absorbed the kinetic energy, and remained intact. Exemplary containment without a single gasket.
