A Blanket of Dots

I was scurrying across the rug when I spotted a crocheted granny-square throw blanket dangling over the sofa arm. Night was creeping in, and the wide room felt... a little exposed, so I grabbed the woolly hem with both plush mittens and hauled it along the floor. Tucking myself under the low glass coffee table, I draped the colorful knit over the lower shelf, building a snug, dome-like fort. A distant hallway nightlight beamed through the tiny hexagonal holes in the knit yarn, peppering the dark floorboards around me with dozens of glowing, soft dots. I tucked my feet in, leaning against a wooden table leg, perfectly sheltered from the giant room.
