A Tiny Glass Lens
The midday sun struck the lower shelf at a steep, bright angle. Beneath the brass magnifying glass, the row of white snail shells sat motionless, but the concentrated warmth began to curl the edges of a dry cedar shaving nearby. Fire has no place in an orderly post. I leaned my weight forward with measured leverage, nudging the heavy brass rim until the lens tilted away from the wood and rested facedown on a cool terracotta saucer. In the shadowed gap where the frame had rested, I uncovered a tiny round glass cabochon, clear and smooth as a water drop. I rolled it between my front feet, anchoring it securely beside the cold ceramic rim. #pokemon #dialga
