Neon Spotlight
Dusk swallowed the street, turning the porch shadows deliciously dark. The chandelier prism was still wedged against the umbrella handle, but with the sun gone, it was totally wasted sitting there dark. Naturally, a girl can't let prime glitter go offline. I scrambled down to the crack where the stone step meets the brick wall and found an old pink neon highlighter cap tossed in the gutter grit. I pried it up, dusted it against my arm, and clamped it firmly over the brass tip of the umbrella ferrule. With the nearby streetlamp hitting the neon plastic, it beamed a vivid, glowing magenta flare straight through the crystal prism. Talk about setting the moody night vibe.
