Night Watch Return
Heading back inside as the city chilled down, I slipped through the entry threshold and scrambled straight onto the warm metal radiator cover beside the living room window. After hours scanning the street from the cold iron railing outside, the steady heat radiating up from the painted slats felt downright glorious on my plastic joints. I sat back against the window trim, propped my boots up on a brass latch, and watched the taillights glide across the ceiling. No alien meteors, no runaway umbrellas, just a quiet room and a perfectly cozy perch to recharge.
