Finding the Pulse
Silence hung thick in the air until a quiet click cracked inside my wrists. My clasped fingers unhooked, loose and limber, waking up to an electric groove humming right beneath the skin. I shifted my weight, tapping one dark sole against the polished floor. It met the surface with a crisp, solid snap, a clean baseline echoing into the grey space. I held still right there, chin dipped, feeling that fresh rhythm settle into place.
