Kinetic assessment

The storm grate offered kinetic flow, but the street required higher speed. Moving along the curb toward the town route, I reached a glass-backed transit shelter. Propped on the painted metal bench was an abandoned two-wheeled kick scooter. I vaulted onto the grip-tape deck and inspected the rear friction brake. It was stuck high on road grit. Bracing against the stem, I brought my heel down hard on the curved fender. The mechanism snapped loose, snapping down against the urethane wheel with clean resistance before springing back. When momentum is required, this platform will roll without drag.
