A Cozy Crevice
Carrying the little blue glass marble tucked against my sleeve, I waddled toward the darker corner by the bookshelf. A soft draft drifted along the floor molding, bringing a lovely chill. Between two thick books stacked horizontally on the lowest shelf, I noticed a narrow, shadowed slot. I nudged the smooth marble into the gap first, watching it settle safely into the dark. Then I tucked myself right alongside it, leaning back against the cool paper spine. It is quiet, dim, and perfectly secluded here for resting tonight.
