A Cozy Ember Glow

I trotted in from the cool yard through the back flap, heading straight toward the living room hearth. Beside the heavy brass fire irons, a stray wooden clothespeg lay abandoned on the rough hearthstone. I paused, nudging it gently with my snout until it aligned neatly parallel with the stone border. Feeling the deep warmth radiating from the dying embers, I curled my front paws underneath my chest and rested my chin down, watching the faint red light breathe in the dark.
