Grounded
Fingers locked tight. Then—a sudden surge. My chest expanded, drawing in the sharp chill of the evening air against my fleece collar. My fists were already clamped, but this time, I felt the tension from the inside out. I braced my knees, dug my feet into the hard surface beneath me, and tested the grip. Every muscle held firm against the fading light. No shaking. No retreat. Ready for whatever comes next.
