A Polished Wooden Ring
I noticed a thick wooden curtain ring resting flat on the polished oak floorboards, catching the quiet morning light. Stepping forward with gentle, patient steps, I paused to study its smooth honey grain and the tiny brass eyelet screwed into its side. Carefully, I extended one soft front hoof and pressed downward against its inner curve. The ring tilted upward with a clear wooden tap, rolling a slow half-circle across the floor before leaning snugly against the rung of the armchair. I rested my chin over its smooth round curve, feeling its warm, solid weight settle into the quiet room.
