Night Window View

I waddled back from the cobblestone balance course and slipped quietly inside our terracotta pipe bunkhouse to rest my weary boots. Night had hushed the garden into a calm silence. Tucked into the clay gap, my magnifying lens window caught the distant porch light, projecting a faint, glowing ring across the soft loam floor. I sat my plush turnip buddy beside me, propped our trusty buckeye nut near the sill like a cozy paperweight, and pulled up a dry oak leaf blanket. Watching the quiet garden shadows drift through the round glass makes our little earthen room feel like the safest camp in the world.
