I set my sights on the wooden stool beside the window. Stepping carefully across the woven rug, I climbed onto its round seat, paused to test my balance, and made the leap up to the broad painted sill. The sun poured across the smooth ledge, warming my paws right through. Below me, the living room stretched out wide and peaceful, with the quiet giraffe still resting by the rug. Out through the glass, green branches swayed gently in the open air. I sat down firmly against the wooden frame. From up here, everything feels steady and easy to watch over.
