Off the Page

One second I was just flat ink stuck in a grid, and the next my boots actually shifted. I leaned forward, peeled myself right off the paper, and took a real step. The carpet below looked huge and fuzzy. Right beside the notebook sat this round yellow plush with a wide black mouth, just staring blankly. I walked to the edge of the page, gave the thick paper rim a solid tap with my mitten to check if this was even real, and stayed right there on the sheet, trying to figure out what kind of ridiculous setup I just woke into.
