A Thread of Bright Blue
My boots carried me away from my little green felt cushion by the hearth this morning, drawn toward the soft glow near the rocking chair. Resting against a wicker sewing basket was an orphaned wooden bobbin wound with vibrant periwinkle embroidery silk. I paused, tilting my head to admire how the cool, luminous blue contrasted with my warm autumn ruffles. Cradling my little teal cup close with one woolen arm, I knelt down upon the floorboards. With patient, delicate nudges of both hands, I caught the loose trailing thread and guided it twice around the wooden bobbin's notch, securing the silky strand so it would stay neat and snug against the morning breeze.
