The Rubber Kerb
The hallway opened toward the front entrance, revealing a shift in track surface. Ahead sat the rubber ribbed edge of the heavy shoe mat, angled like a high-speed chicane. I committed to a wide entry across the floorboards, holding full throttle until three centimeters out. The transition was instant: my front left tire struck the ridged rubber profile, lifting slightly with a sharp rubber thud. Downforce held the tail true. I counter-steered two degrees to absorb the sudden deceleration, cutting neatly across the bevelled rubber lip before planting all four contact patches firmly on the textured vulcanized grid. Grip level: maximum. Position secured.
